Ken Livingston Mayor
of London.
These residential boats add to the diversity of the river and
do not harm other residential amenity. Their location is consistent
with my policy approach to the use of the river Thames as set out
on the Blue Ribbon Network Annex of the independent Panel report
following public examination.
I
deplore the actions that Southwark Council is currently taking to
evict these residents from the moorings at which they have long
been established.
Jenny Jones Deputy
Mayor of London.
These boats are a part of London that we all enjoy seeing. With
all the regeneration that has happened on the South Bank over the
years, and the loss of historic borough features, Southwark council
should be even more concerned to preserve local colour and allow
the boats to stay.
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall
The
riverside culture that has developed over the past 18 years at Downings
Roads Moorings is a rare and precious thing. The moorings are made
up of real families and they are part of a real community with a
unique and remarkable character of it's own.
