What we're doing

Downings Roads Residents Association appeals against the enforcement notices served by Southwark Council, in order to save the Ancient Moorings.

The residents of the Downings Roads Moorings are appealing against the planning enforcement and trying to find a solution to the concerns of the Council, the Port of London Authority and the owners of neighbouring flats.

One of the problems raised by the enforcement notice is that some of the residents in the riverside apartments overlooking the moorings find the boats unsightly.

We are hoping to use Southwark's Mediation Service in order to find some compromise, and to clear up any misunderstandings there may be about the Moorings.

In order to save these historically significant moorings, we want to create and open dialogue with Southwark Council.

We are also looking for as much support as possible from the public and the media. So far both have been very responsive.

Downings Roads Moorings took part this year in the Mayor's Thames Festival in September, and we hope to join the Festival again next year in it's celebration of the river. For more information about the Moorings' part in this event, please go to Latest news.

More information will be coming soon.
